  • ACEA reveiced an invitation and visited Energy Australia Solar Power site at the Olympic Park, Homebush by executive members of Australian Chinese Engineers Association on 2 August 2000.

    Mr. Zhao Xiao-lin, Consul of Sciense & Technology, Consulate-General of the PRC as a guest attended the visviting.

  • Visiting An Olympic Odyssey

    October 30, 1997, the ACEA, Australian Chinese Engineers Association Executive Secretary, James Yu and Executive Committee Member, Victor Fang visited the Olympic Odyssey -- Mr. Bu Fanzhou at Gold Spear Hotel, Sydney. The talk proceeded in a friendly atmosphere. They widely discussed many issues and exchanged different views of Australia and China.

    In June 1996, Chinese sports journalist Mr. Bu Fanzhou set out on an Olympic Centennial Tour -- a global bicycle tour from Mt. Olympus in Greece, birthplace of the modern Olympiad, to visit all the host cities of Summer Olympic Games over the past century. He retraced Olympic history, interviewed Olympic officials, sports stars and met with local celebrities. The tour covered approximately 15,000 Km on land.

    Mr. Bu completed an epic journey at The Sydney Opera House at 10 am, on October 29, 1997. Australian Olympic Committee President John Coates and International Olympic Committee Member Phil Coles were present to greet Mr. Bu. The Chinese Ambassador to Australia, Hua Junduo and the Consul General to Sydney, Wu Keming were also present to greet him. Journalists from Channel 7 TV station, 2UE Radio, 2ac Australian Chinese Radio and SBS Radio attended the ceremony.

  • Visiting Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)

    The members of the Association visited CSIRO, Lane Cove site on September 19, 1997. Mr. Vic Deeble, Manager of Building Construction & Engineering Department received the visitors.

    Currently, about 80% of CSIRO's resources are utilised by the Australian Government and Defence for strategic research, and about 20% of resources are utilised by industrial consultant services.

    Building Construction & Engineering currently provides fire safety engineering, ventilation technologies, facade engineering, prototype testing & assessment, Energy efficiency issues and System appraisals services to the Australian industrial.

    The visiting was organised by the Committee of the Association between CSIRO and the Committee.

  • Visiting Colonial Sugar Refinery (CSR)

    The ACEA, Australian Chinese Engineers Association organised a site visit and its members of the Association visited Homechoice, Colonial Sugar Refinery (CSR), Castle Hill Centre on November 8,1996.

    26 members was attending the visiting.

  • Visiting Sewerage Treatment Plant

    The Association Committee organised a site visiting on October 7, 1995. This time the members of the Association visited a Water Board sewerage treatment plant which is located in Malabar, NSW.

    There are 3 water sources in Sydney region: drinking water, storm water and sewerage. Therefore, 3 pipe systems are required to avoid any mixture. These controls are carried by Water Board and the local City Councils.

    The sewerage treatment factory treats 4.8 million litters sewerage each day using Deep Ocean Discharge technology. However, there are only 9 staff working in the factory and all operations and monitoring are carried by central computer control system.

    21 members took part in the visiting.

  • Visiting Sydney 2000 Olympic Village Site

    The visit to Sydney 2000 Olympic Village construction site in Homebush Bay was organised by the Association Committee for its members and friends on July 7, 1996.

    The construction Investment and Marketing Manager and Road Engineering Project Manager received us and gave us introductions to the Sydney 2000 Olympic project. They said the project introduced many high technologies including the high energy solar power systems.

    46 members participated the visiting.
