ACEA, Australian Chinese Engineers Association's Projects

  • Solutions to Sydney Water Crisis

After the Sydney drinking water crisis in July ~ September 1998, A.C.E.A. Australian Chinese Engineers Association organized a number of meetings to discuss and study the cause of the parasites outbreaks in Sydney's water supply. In response to the recommendations in the Final Report of Sydney Water Inquiry, a Proposal For the Improvements of Sydney Water Treatment Technology (click here to see the Proposal) was propared by ACEA's Committee.

This Proposal has been released at a seminar in The University of Sydney, on 7 July 1999.

  • Proposals
  • Two projects have been set up by the Committee in 1997. These are: "Professional Expertise Personal Data Base" and "Australian Experiences for Professionals".

The proposals have been discussed with the NSW Government and are appreciated by the Government and have been submitted to the NSW Government in February 1998.

The two projects will be carried out by the Association in late1998 if the Government funding can be granted.

The applications for the funding were submitted to NSW Government by the Committee in November 1997.

Once the "Professional Expertise Personal Data Base" project is completed, the data base will be available for all Government and private employment, industrial and commercial agencies. This data base can also help the Association to assist the professionals for their job searching, etc. in Australia. As well as to assist the overseas organisations with various requirements in Australia, such as business partnership, business and technical consulting, etc.

The "Australian Experiences for Professionals" project will consist of seminars and workshops etc. The seminars and workshops will be organised and managed by the Committee of the Association. Seminar materials and workshop materials will be printed in English and submitted to NSW Ethnic Affair Commission. These papers will be translated to different ethnic languages and distributed to other ethnic communities.

Please note, the Committee has sadly acknowledged that in May, the proposals could not be approved by the Government due to the shortage of Government fundings. Good try anyway !
