The meeting was opened at 7:00 pm by the Chairperson and ACEA's Founder, Mr James Yu, who reviewed the Association's great success gained, and all memorable events happened, over the last six years since it was established. Especially in 1999, the Association organized a Seminar, titled: `Proposal for Control of The Microbiological Contamination of Sydney Water', and submitted the Proposal to the Sydney Water. The Proposal received a prompt response from the authority, and a meeting was held between the Sydney Water and ACEA to consider the Proposal in details. The event had widely gained appraisal from both Australian and Chinese societies. Furthermore, in 2001, the Association submitted some recommendations to the tour and traffic authorities in China, with regard to the improvement of Beijing's traffic, management and tour facilities in Beijing and Huangshan. The recommendations also received the relevant authorities' positive reply.

The Chairperson concluded that the structure of the Association, as well as its members, now become much more mature than ever before. To promote the Association's work and to give many other talented members more chance to develop their capabilities, he proposed that he would not intend to be nominated as the President candidate for the next term's Committee, but would remain an active role within the Association.
