Invitations Received by ACEA


  • Attending Celebrations
  • On March 13, 2001, ACEA received an invitation from Associate Professor Christine Inglis, Director of the Multicultural Research Centre at the University of Sydney. She requested ACEA to assist her in relation to her current research comparing the migration and settlement experiences of professionals from British and Chinese backgrounds who have relocated to Sydney, having arrived in Australia in the past decade and been living here for at least one year.

    The purpose of the invitation was to request the assistance of the Australian Chinese Engineers Association to contact any companies with offices in Sydney who may be able to help her to locate potential interviewees who meet her research criteria.

  • On November 26, 1999, ACEA committee members were invited by Mr. Colin Nicholson, Operation Manager of Sydney Water to discuss the detail of ACEA's Proposal for Control of the Microbiological Contamination of Sydney Water. This meeting was held at Mr. Nicholson's office in Frank St. Guildford NSW 2161.

    Mr James Yu, Sidney Lim, Chi-Nam Si, Victor Fang, Dr. Judy Cao and Dr. Yujing Zhang attended the meeting.

  • Invitation from the People's Republic of China

    An official invitation was recieved from Heilongjiang Provincial Government, People's Republic of China by the member of the Association in July 1997. The member of the Association has accepted the invitation and visited 3 Chinese cities which includes Beijing and gave lectures in 4 Universities during the visit in July 1998.

  • Invitation from the Department of Industry, Science and Tourism, Australia

    ACEA, Australian Chinese Engineers Association received an invitation from Mr. Brian Meredyth, State Director of the Department of Industry, Science and Tourism for Australia, to attend a briefing session at Sydney Hilton on 15 September, by the organisers of the Second Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Technomart held in January 1998 in Taipei.

    The briefing session commenced with a presentation from two organisers from Taiwan who explained how to participate in the Technomart. The attendees also had the opportunity to address individual queries to the visitors over cocktails.

  • Invitation from Taiwan

    ACEA, Australian Chinese Engineers Association also received an invitation from Dr. Wang Chih-Kang, the Chairman of the Executive Committe, Second APEC Technomart and Minister of Economic Affairs, Taiwan.

    The Second APEC Technomart convened in Taipei from 19 January to 25 January 1998.

    The Second APEC Technomart focussed on six areas:

  • Micro-Electronic & Information Technology
  • Advanced Materials Technology
  • Medical & Biological Technology
  • Machinery and Automation Technology
  • Emerging Technology
  • Others (e.g. agriculture, evnvironmental protection, etc.)
  • The first APEC Technomart was held in Korea in May 1995 and was attended by 3,000 visitors from 13 member countries with over 390 technologies displayed.
