1033 was hired to Public Works Department for shunting at Port Kembla in August 1947, returning to the Railway Department in 1951, being used as a steam source at Eveleigh before comming into the possession of the NSWRTM.
1033 was used on some tours, notably a tour to Richmond for the Blacktown Centenary on 9/7/1960, double heading with 1210.

Grunbach page 260 has a photo of 1033 hauling a tour with the late C.A. Cardew leaning out from the footplate.
Eardley1 (both editions) has a photo of 1033 at Eveleigh just after an overhaul, the forward mounted injector used for boiler testing and auxiliiary steam supply clearly visible.
Oberg has a photo of 1033 generating steam at Eveleigh in June 1962
Essays in Steam has a closer view of 1033 in the same spot as Oberg (not same photo). This photo also in NSWGR in Steam .
Anderson also has another slightly different photo of 1033 on boiler testing work at Eveleigh.
Railway Album No5 page 27 has a rear on shot of 1033 pushing 1022 into the large erecting shop at Eveleigh in November 1961.
