One of the second batch of these locomotives delivered in September 1879 by the ship "Niobe". Originaly of very american appearance they were rebuilt with Belpaire fireboxes and conventional chimneys in the early 1900s. The class spent much of their life as bank engines at Murrurundi and Penrith and finished their days on Newcastle and Illawarra coal traffic. All were scrapped between 1927 and 1937. See also 1005.
