The NTEU were told by the AIRC that the NTEU must stop from 12.00 noon 23 December 1999 its active recruitment of General Staff in Universities where the CPSU has coverage.

The Decision of Justice Munro said the NTEU must observe and promote the conditions set out below.

The Commission told the NTEU that they must stop all of the following activity:

*propaganda

*leaflets

*emails

*media releases,

*media publicity,

*meetings

*rallies and approaches to Delegates of the other unions, until there is futher Order of the Commmission in the CPSU Appeal against the Decision. This means that until further notice of the Commission CPSU members, or any other employee, should observe the activity of the NTEU official and Delegates.

Report any activity listed above to the CPSU office or your local Delegates. Any NTEU recruitment posters, leaflets and suchlike that appear from now on would be contrary to the Decision. Send copies to the Head Office.

The Commission has said that if the NTEU does not observe the Direction then the Commission will hear a case to make an order for the NTEU rule change to be "stayed".

The Decision also stated that the lack of a stay order was on the basis that the NTEU cease active recruitment.
